Act4SDGs Project

ACT4SDGs is an Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) project funded by the European Commission that runs from January 2024 to December 2026. Its full name is “Professionalisation of Academic Teaching to Infuse SDGs in Latin American Universities.” The project aims to create a Euro-Latin American network of universities, equipping over 1,200 academic teachers as changemakers who will promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in higher education through pedagogy, curricula, and institutional transformation.

The project has been developed through the cooperation of four UNESCO Chairs, namely the UNESCO Chair ICT in Education for Sustainable Development, led by Prof. Dr. Vassilios Makrakis, University of Crete, Greece, the UNESCO Chair on Observation and Education of World Heritage and Biosphere Reserves, led by Prof. Dr. Alexander Siegmund, Heidelberg University of Education, Germany; the UNESCO Chair on Education for Sustainable Development led by Dr. Miriam Vilela, -The Earth Charter Center for Education for Sustainable Development and the University of Peace, Costa Rica, and the UNESCO Chair on Education for Sustainability and Global Citizenship, led by Dr. Carla Sabbatini, Universidad de San Andrés, Argentina.

The consortium includes ten Latin American universities (from Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Mexico) and four European institutions (Germany, Greece, and Cyprus). The University of Education Heidelberg coordinates the project.
