Most of the sustainability issues are controversial as they are likely to challenge students’ held values, beliefs, and world views. Thus, exploring controversial issues enables students to develop a deeper and more critical understanding of the world they live. PYTHAGORAS is being developed as a distributed problem-based e-learning environment to support pre-service and in-service teachers to deal with controversial issues in the class applying an emancipatory constructionist problem-based learning approach.
